On the 28th of March, St. Vincent’s Secondary School had the pleasure of welcoming students from Charles Tillon School in Rennes, Brittany, as part of their six-day visit to Dublin. This special day marked the culmination of months of connection, as students from both schools have been exchanging letters and building friendships since September.

The day began with a warm welcome from Transition Year students Ahyan and Joshua, who introduced the French group to our school and helped set the tone for a day of collaboration and fun. The visiting students then gave a presentation about their own school and shared their experiences in Ireland so far, offering everyone a glimpse into their lives in Brittany and their impressions of Dublin.
After a short break, students took part in a lively “speed dating” activity, rotating around the room to chat and get to know one another. Both Irish and French snacks were on hand, adding a delicious touch to the cultural exchange.
Next, Mr. Donnelly organised a French quiz, where mixed teams from both schools competed in questions based on French and Irish knowledge. This friendly competition encouraged teamwork and sparked plenty of laughter.
After lunch, Mr. Hickey led a spirited Céilí dancing session. Our students taught their French peers the basics of traditional Irish dance, including “The Walls of Limerick,” before everyone joined together for a final performance of “An Droilín.”
It was a fantastic day, filled with fun activities, laughter, and the forging of new friendships.
