In January, some of our senior students were invited to a grand ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the President of Ireland, President Michael D Higgins.
The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to visit the President's house. They were given a tour of the beautiful building and learned many interesting things about its history.
After the tour, the students were treated to some delicious refreshments. They enjoyed tasty snacks and drinks while taking in the elegant surroundings of Áras an Uachtaráin.
The main event of the day was the credential ceremony. Three ambassadors, representing Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Kenya, presented their credentials to President Higgins. It was a formal and important occasion, and the students were excited to witness such a significant event.
Following the credential ceremony, there was a special guard of honour by the army for each new ambassador. The students watched in awe as the soldiers paraded in honour of the ambassadors.
As we share this story, we are also thinking about President Michael D Higgins, who is currently in the hospital. We want to wish him a very speedy recovery and send him our best wishes.
Overall, it was a day filled with learning, excitement, and goodwill. The students of St. Vincent's will surely cherish the memories of their special visit to Áras an Uachtaráin for a long time to come.
