This week at St Vincent’s, we are marking International Men’s Day and Movember. We have fun events and important messages about staying healthy and looking after each other, especially young men.

Cyclathon Challenge: Students and Staff Cycle for Awareness

Tuesday was our big Cyclathon! Students and teachers raced on exercise bikes to reach 60km. This number reminds us that 60 men die by suicide every hour around the world. Staff had one bike, students had another. Everyone worked hard and showed great spirit.

The Cyclathon is about more than winning. It helps us think about health problems like suicide and cancer. In Ireland, 600-620 men die each year from prostate cancer. Movember is all about helping men’s health.

Lots Happening This Week for Men’s Health

Our Wellbeing Committee planned lots of activities:

  • Football and dodgeball games between year groups—lots of fun and friendly matches!

  • Tutorials and activities to help us learn about mental health.

  • A Blue Breakfast for staff on Wednesday, collecting money for men’s health charities.

  • On Friday, there will be a basketball shootout between staff and students.

  • The 6th Years will play teachers in basketball on Friday too—it should be exciting!

Why It Matters

Men’s health is about our bodies and our minds. Talking and supporting each other makes a big difference. St Vincent’s is proud to join Movember. We want everyone to stay active, learn new things, and help each other feel good.
