Students at St. Vincent’s had an unforgettable day yesterday when Dr John Dunbar from the Midland’s Bug and Reptile Zoo visited our school. He brought along a wide range of amazing animals — from slithering snakes to tricky tarantulas.

Dr John told us all about his exciting life and how he became a reptile expert. He shared that he is dyslexic and found school very hard when he was younger. He even left school after his Junior Cert. But after discovering his love for exotic creatures, he decided to return to education. He didn’t give up — and went on to earn a PhD, which means he is now a doctor of science!

Dr John has travelled all over the world studying different animals, and the students loved hearing his stories.
Our Newsroom Team spoke to some of our first-year students about the visit — and you can check out their reactions in our video below!
